Healing Starts from Within
Join the “Time to Heal” Campaign
The Snoqualmie Valley community has experienced a great deal of pain and loss over the last few years. We are healing from the loss of student life, Covid-19 impacts, acts of racism, and probably other challenges that we are unaware of as a group.
Why it’s time to heal
All the events noted above have created a lot of pain and suffering in our community. It is time we support one another, work together more, and seek to understand perspectives different than our own. We have a great community in the Snoqualmie Valley and together, through intentional healing, we can make it even stronger.

Healing is rooted in self care, partnership, and communication.
SELF CARE
Many of us have struggled personally over the last few years. In order to begin a healing journey, we need to initiate a process of healing from the inside out. This inside out healing includes being compassionate and caring for ourselves. This will allow us to care for others.
PARTNERSHIP
There are many resources in the valley to begin the process of healing. We have great organizations we have partnered with including Riverview Resilient, Snoqualmie Resilience Team, Empower Youth Network, City of Duvall, City of Carnation, the Yoga Garden and Riverview School District.
COMMUNICATION
Communication is the key to establishing and maintaining healthy relationships. The Time to Heal campaign aims to:
- Support connections between individuals who are healing
- Rebuild our collective sense of community
- Reinvigorate our ability to communicate

Bowl Breaking & Bonding: Embodying Strength through Adversity with Kylee Gies
Throughout our journey of life, many of us are touched by adversity, painful events, milestones, and threshold life opportunities that offer transformation. It could be a loss of loved ones, part of yourself, divorce, job, health/vitality, etc. The overarching feeling may be described as ‘broken’ and these times of change may invoke emotions ranging from a tangled mess to exactly where you are supposed to be. Maybe even at the same time.
Come and join us in this experiential workshop inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi a.k.a. ‘Golden Joinery’. Kintsugi exemplifies the spirit of ‘wabi-sabi’, which is a philosophy centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. Kintsugi is an ancient practice in which broken objects, usually ceramics, are mended with gold-dust lacquer. It reminds us that something can break and still be beautiful. Once repaired, it is stronger at the broken places. The cracks are where we are restored and renewed. Nothing is ever truly broken.
This is an in-person event at The Yoga Garden.

Inside Out: Trauma-Responsive Care for Educators, Parents, and Community
For more than two years, we have been experiencing a collective trauma that has resurfaced unresolved traumas and created new ones. The shelter in place and lock downs meant social isolation, which resulted in increases in depression and anxiety among children and adolescents. This holds true for adults as well. It is not uncommon to downplay the impact the pandemic has had on our wellbeing. If we do not address our own traumas and develop strategies for managing the effects trauma has on our body and mind, then we run the risk of re-traumatizing our children. Being trauma-responsive is about the adult first and the child second. We cannot help our children process their trauma if we haven’t first worked on ourselves.
The Inside-Out Workshop is designed to broaden the social and emotional awareness within ourselves. When we are able to recognize how our mind and body reacts to something that triggers our trauma, we can take steps to heal it through self-awareness, self-regulation and mindfulness. With greater self-awareness we are able to recognize our own triggers so that we are able to help our children learn to do the same.
In this interactive series you will:
- Gain foundational knowledge about trauma and its effects on the mind and body. Engage in “inside-out” work to recognize your own triggers and identify areas that need healing.
- Unpack how trauma induced behavior shows up at home and in school. Recognize that what we bring to the table matters.
- Learn trauma-responsive strategies to be more skillful in your approach and develop resilience in your child or student.
- Understand the importance of self-care and create a plan for implementing self-care strategies into your daily life.
